All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) An Overview

AIEEE opens avenues for about 40-50,000 dexterous students, willing to get admission in varied fields including Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in some of the top-notch colleges in India. The decisive government body is Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India that takes the policy decision to take up All India Engineering Entrance Examination every year. This entrance examination is carried out to minimize the problems arising in front of well-deserving candidates seeking admission in some of the well-reckoned colleges in different corners of the country.

Usually conducted in the month of May, AIEEE calls only those students for counseling who perform well in the entrance and secure a respectable position or rank. AIEEE is responsible for providing admission in country’s 19 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Candidates are eligible for central counseling or state counseling only on the basis of their All India Rank (AIR) or State Rank. SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates are called for counseling on the first and second day of the counseling. Eligibility- Any candidate who has passed final 10+2 examination of equivalent is eligible for appearing the examination. Additionally, those who are appearing for 10+2 are also considered eligible for the examination but they are admitted provisionally and need to submit their passing certificate in class XII qualifying examination. In case the student is unable to submit the mark-sheet, their admission will be cancelled.

Examination Pattern- Those opting for Engineering are tested in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and the duration is 3 hours for the same with maximum marks 540 and an equal weight-age of 180 each. Aspirants opting for Architecture are tested on the basis of their performance in Mathematics and an aptitude test.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination(WBJEE)

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is carried out by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. These entrance exams are conducted in order to meet the admission requirement of various undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Medical, Dental and Pharmacy etc in the West Bengal colleges and universities and architecture course in Bengal engineering and science university in Shibpur and Jadavpur University.

In order to get admission in various courses under WBJEE, one has to fill different form. Following is the scheme of forms and subjects required in the entrance examination.

The aspirants applying for the examination must be citizen of India and should have qualified the 10+2 or equivalent examination. The students in General category need to have secured at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology along with 30% marks in English for all categories. In comparison to this, the applicants in SC/ST category need to have secured 40% marks in PCM or PCB.

The applicants must be between 17 years and 24 years of age on 31st December’08. The examination centers for the same will be located in the state of West Bengal and Tripura.

Common entrance Tests(CET)

The essential prerequisites of professional courses like MBBS, BE, Btech , Barch are subject knowledge at the 10+2 Level and analytical ability. This requires a selection procedure for students who can complete the demanding professional courses in place. The common entrance tests are such tests which tests the students’ competency for the professional course. The basic prerequisites of the knowledge of physical Sciences are common to all professional courses resulting the abolishment of separate exams for different courses. Right now in India KCET , EAMCET ,MHT CET , GUJ CET are various common entrance tests.

KCET: Karnataka CET is held for admission of students to various professional courses of Karnataka. The Karnataka CET (KCET) examination, since 1984, has been conducted every year by the Government of Karnataka for admission in the Engineering and Medical Colleges of this state. The admission process through the KCET is not only open for medical and engineering courses but several other courses which include Dental, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Yoga, Naturopathy and Architecture.

EAMCET: Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET), Andhra Pradesh is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, and Andhra Pradesh every year in May on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).

Merit list is prepared by JNTU on the basis of which admissions are given to the candidates in the respective courses of their choice. EAMCET admissions are done into all the prestigious government colleges/institutions of Andhra Pradesh including the private and minority institutions affiliated to the

MHT CET: If you are interested to be a part of this Maharastra Technological Studies scenario, then it becomes mandatory on your part to appear for the MHT CET examination. One of the distinguishing features of the MHT CET exam is that, it does not carry any strict domicile requirement. Candidates from Maharastra and other states of India are welcome to appear for this examination. On this context one aspect needs special mention that the non Maharashtra candidates can apply for the admissions against the Institute level seats and the vacant seats after completion of Centralized Admission Process.

GUJ CET: Gujarat Common entrance Test is conducted by The Education Department, Govt of Gujarat and it has assigned The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to hold CET for admission into various medical, engineering and pharmacy courses in the state of Gujarat.
